prevention of hepatitis b and c
Hepatitis B and C are spread sexually, especially through anal sex. -Hepatitis B may be prevented by a vaccination or by condom protection. Hepatitis B is similar to HIV as the virus becomes incorporated in human cells (liver cells) and requires life-long medication to suppress the virus. -Hepatitis C is best prevented through the use of condoms (there is no vaccine, but this form of viral hepatitis is considered cureable with treatment).
Other STI A study reported in August 2022 showed taking a common antibiotic as soon as possible after sexual exposure to bacterial infections (STI's) is effective in reducing the likelihood of transmission for gonorrhea, chlamydia and syphilis. DoxyPEP- The study of 554 Men who have sex with men utilized one dose of Doxycycline as soon as possible after potential exposure. Infections occurred in 10.3% of doxy recipients and 29% of the placebo (no treatment) group, cutting in half the rate of these infections. Call today for this preventive treatment.
