If you believe you may have been exposed to HIV, please call right away. The Doc Shop offers same (or next) day post-exposure prophylaxis to prevent the infection from taking hold in your body.

HIV prevention medications or PrEP (Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis) can be taken BEFORE sexual activity to prevent the disease. These medicines (pills or injections) may be available free for at-risk individuals. Please check with the Doc Shop (913-362-0220) for further information.

Hepatitis B and C are spread sexually, especially through anal sex.
Hepatitis B may be prevented by a vaccination.
Hepatitis C is best prevented through the use of condoms.
These viral infections target liver cells.
Both are treatable.
Hepatitis B is similar to HIV in that it requires life-long medication to suppress the virus.
Hepatitis C may be cured with treatment.
